Week of November 25, 2013

  Students are working on an in-class writing assignment about text connections.  It must all be done in class, therefore, there is no homework this week.

Week of November 18, 2013

Writing: Personal narrative due Tuesday.

There will be no homework assignments this week.  Students are working on a group project about making text connections.  The projects are due on November 22nd.

The week of November 11-13, 2013

Students will be working on a group project for the next two weeks.  This project is an introduction and practice of the "Text Connections" concept.  Students will review/discuss all of the stories that have been read thus far in the school year.  They will be making--
 

• Text-to-text connections:  Comparing the similarities and differences between stories
• Text-to-self connections: determining how a story relates to them and a situation in their life
• Text-to-world connections: determining how a story relates to a current situation in the world-at- large

Homework--

     Test correctives are due Wednesday morning.

     Personal narrative is due November 19th.

Reading: Reviewed the common elements of a personal narrative.

English: Went over pg. 510 in the English textbook "How to Write a Personal Narrative".

Writing: Personal narrative writing assignment was explained and the rubric provided.  Final copy of the narrative is due on Tuesday, November 19th.  This project will not be done in class; it is homework.

Reading: Students completed their Narratives Review Test.

English: Continued review of verb tenses.

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Reading; Students began work on their "Narratives Review" test.  They will finish it in class tomorrow.

English:  Continued to work on verb tenses and irregular verbs.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Thursday, November 14th from 1:00-7:00.

Writing: Cause/effect writing project was due today.

Reading:  Students are reviewing the narratives genre and the various literary elements.  Students will be working on a review chart this week in class.
     HW: Selection Test #33

English: Students continue on with review of verbs.  This week we are working on verb tenses.
     HW: Verb tense worksheet #36
