·         Don’t forget raise your hand and ask questions when it is necessary.
·         Write your first and last names as well as the class hour in the upper right hand corner of every assignment.
·         Give your best effort on all assignments, tests and quizzes.

Class Format:

·         Each class will begin with journal writing or a vocabulary warm-up activity.  Students are expected to have a one-subject, spiral notebook to write these assignments in.  These notebooks are not to be taken from the classroom.
·         Most days will start with an English lesson followed by a reading lesson.  These lessons will either be whole class activities, discussions, or individual assignments.  Please plan to participate fully for the entire length of class.
·         Shorter writing assignments will be completed during class time and generally one, or several, class periods will be devoted to these assignments.  Students who don’t complete them in the allotted time will need to complete them at home.
·         Long term writing assignments will most often be completed outside of class.
·         Spelling homework will be assigned on Monday and will be due on Thursday.  There will be no class time given to complete spelling homework.  Please do not work on your spelling when the class is working on other assignments!
·         Most class periods will end with a wrap-up or review and an “exit” activity.
