Reading: Students read an excerpt from the book Old Ben. We began analyzing the following story elements: characters, plot, setting, mood, and theme.characters: who or what of the story; animals or people who are important to the story
plot: action in the story; the main events
setting: time and place
mood: the feeling/emotions created by the story
theme: life lesson; what the author wants the reader to learn.
