Students were introduced to the point system for the Michigan's Adventure trip at the end of the year.  They are supposed to share the information with their parents/guardians and return a signed slip by tomorrow.  The point system will start on Monday.

Reading- students continued to work on their comic strip project.  It is due on April 16th.

Reading: Students continued working on the comprehension questions for "Titanic".
           They began work on a comic strip project that is due on April 16th.  Students will be given  class time to work on their project. 

Spelling homework is due tomorrow.

 

Titanic Comic Strip Project

                       

                                Final project is due:

Your task is to create a comic strip about the sinking of the Titanic. The strip must have all of the main events. Your illustrations should be worthy of newspaper publication. Your illustrations should show great creativity. Turn on your brain and let the creative juices flow.
Brainstorm the storyline.  Include setting, characters, and main plot events.	Brainstorm elements of a comic strip.
You must show me a rough draft before you can get the paper for the final copy.   Make sure you have planned out everything that will be on your final comic strip.   Make sure you have checked for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Reading: Discussed fact/opinion.  Students began work on the questions on pg. 386 #s 1-5.
      HW: Fact/opinion worksheet

English: HW- Pronouns worksheet

6th grade MEAP scores showed the most improvement for the whole middle school.  Because of this, they will be traveling to the museum in Grand Rapids to view the Titanic exhibit.  The trip is on April 25th.  More information coming soon.

Reading: Students began studying the Titanic.  Began to read a historical account of its sinking written by Robert Ballard.

English: Began a two week study of pronouns and antecedents.

Spelling: "ous" words  Homework is due Thursday.

Writing: CDV essay was due today.  Students organized their Quarter 3 writing assignments and writing log.  Discussed MEAP writing test and writing goals for Marking Period 4.

Monday, March 25, 2013-- Wednesday, March 27,2013

Writing: Students will be working on an essay about Core Democratic Values this week.  They will have all of class time through Wednesday to work on this assignment.  The final draft will be due at the beginning of the hour on Thursday.  While is it not being assigned as homework, students may choose to bring it home to work on.

Students went to the library today to check out a book for their non-fiction book report.
We went over the rubric for the book report in class.  Book reports are due on April 22nd.

Writing: Students began work on a four-paragraph essay about "courage".  It was not homework.  We will use class time on Monday to complete the assignment.
