Writing: CDV essay was due today.  Students organized their Quarter 3 writing assignments and writing log.  Discussed MEAP writing test and writing goals for Marking Period 4.

Writing: Students will be working on an essay about Core Democratic Values this week.  They will have all of class time through Wednesday to work on this assignment.  The final draft will be due at the beginning of the hour on Thursday.  While is it not being assigned as homework, students may choose to bring it home to work on.

Students went to the library today to check out a book for their non-fiction book report.
We went over the rubric for the book report in class.  Book reports are due on April 22nd.

Writing: Students began work on a four-paragraph essay about "courage".  It was not homework.  We will use class time on Monday to complete the assignment.

Friday is the end of the marking period.  All late/fix assignments are due by the end of the day on Friday.  Each student was given a list of assignments that need to be taken care of.

There will be no homework this week.  Students turned in their final writing assignment for this marking period this morning. 

Students will be watching the historical account Ruby Bridges Wednesday and Thursday.

Delayed start. Students began with third hour.

Writing: Third hour students wrote a four paragraph essay in class.  Topic was chosen from the "What's the Scoop" topic list.
Spelling: There is no spelling homework this week.

Last day to turn in missing assignments for this marking period is Friday, March 22nd!!!

Reading: Today we began our study of non-fiction.  The first few historical narratives that we will be reading are about the civil rights movement.  Today's selection was "Abraham Lincoln: Backwoods Boy".  Students needed to read the selection and begin answering the questions on pg. 324.

English: We are continuing with the study of modifiers.


March is Reading Month.  Our theme is a tribute to Dr. Seuss, "Grab Your Hat and Read With the Cat".  An informational letter is being sent home with all middle-schoolers.
