Field trip on Thursday to Grand Rapids.  Information came home today.

Reading: Students will be reading How To Eat Fried Worms in class this week.  They will be completing comprehension activities as they read.

English: Continued with pronoun/verb agreement.  Focus was on "we" and "us".

Writing: "How To Make My Favorite Cookie" essay is due tomorrow.

NON-FICTION BOOK REP0RT IS DUE MONDAY!!!


English- continued working on pronoun use.
      HW: Pronoun worksheet #129

Reading: Discussed "How To" essay.
      HW: Selection Test # 99-101     #s 1-20 and essay question

Writing: "How to Make My Favorite Cookie" essay  is due April 23
           Four paragraph essay- introduction, description of necessary materials, step-by-step          
                 directions necessary to  make the cookies, descriptive concluding paragraph.

Students have an opportunity to contribute to a "Letter Capsule".  They are working to fill a large container with letters they have written to themselves or to their friends.  The capsule will be stored in the ceiling until the night of their senior prom.  Parents and other relatives can also write letters.  Make sure letters are in an envelope with the student's name on the front.

Reading/Writing: For the next two weeks students will be working on "How To" essays.  Today they read two selections from their reading text.  They read an essay by Garrison Keillor, "How To Write A Friendly Letter" and a poem, "How To Write About the Sky".
                      No Homework for tonight.

English: Continued study of pronouns.  This week we are focusing on pronoun/verb agreement.

Reading/Writing: Students continued work on the Titanic comic strip project.  Final draft is due at the beginning of the hour on Wednesday.
   There is no additional homework for tonight.

Future plans- On April 25th, students will be traveling to the Grand Rapids city museum to view a special Titanic exhibit.  More information will be coming home soon.

Because of the delayed start today, there is no spelling homework this week.

Because of the ice day on Friday, the due date for the Titanic comic strip is now April 17th.  Students will have class time on Tuesday to continue working on this project.

Students were introduced to the point system for the Michigan's Adventure trip at the end of the year.  They are supposed to share the information with their parents/guardians and return a signed slip by tomorrow.  The point system will start on Monday.

Reading: Students continued working on the comprehension questions for "Titanic".
           They began work on a comic strip project that is due on April 16th.  Students will be given  class time to work on their project. 

Spelling homework is due tomorrow.

 
Titanic Comic Strip Project

                       

                                Final project is due:

   Your task is to create a comic strip about the sinking of the Titanic. The strip must have all of the main events. Your illustrations should be worthy of newspaper publication. Your illustrations should show great creativity. Turn on your brain and let the creative juices flow.
Brainstorm the storyline.  Include setting, characters, and main plot events.
 
 
 
 
 
Brainstorm elements of a comic strip.
 
You must show me a rough draft before you can get the paper for the final copy.
 
Make sure you have planned out everything that will be on your final comic strip.

Reading: Discussed fact/opinion.  Students began work on the questions on pg. 386 #s 1-5.

6th grade MEAP scores showed the most improvement for the whole middle school.  Because of this, they will be traveling to the museum in Grand Rapids to view the Titanic exhibit.  The trip is on April 25th.  More information coming soon.
